Henton Village Hall was built in 1999 after several years of fundraising.  A Trust deed (which was enacted in 1995) proposed to manage and run the Hall, which would replace the old wooden "Hut" which had stood on the site since about 1933. The Hut was connected to the church who were joint Trustees. However, the church  gave up any link when the new hall was built. A plaque in the foyer still refers to the Hall by its familiar name: the 'Hut'. 

It could be argued that the Hall was a year early in that the weather cock that was placed on top shows 2000 but perhaps this indicates the hall is of a standard and encompasses facilities that are of the 21st century rather than the last. The hall has inbuilt emergency lighting and conforms to modern health and safety regulations as well as ensuring disabled people in wheelchairs can be accommodated.

Its spacious main hall can hold 240 people seated but also has the height to cope with such things as badminton and the length for short mat bowls. There are also many other clubs and societies that enjoy this well lit, warm and friendly venue. It is regularly chosen by national societies such as the National Trust, to hold key meetings, as well as a range of local clubs and societies for their weekly or monthly meetings. It is also chosen by the Parish Church of Christ Church as the venue for their outreach Sunday Breakfast Service which is a regular monthly meeting to allow the whole community to come together for a time of fellowship by sharing a free breakfast.

The Hall was built with a steel frame and concrete block walls under a tiled roof. It has full central heating and ample lighting in all areas. Outside is a small field which can be used for outdoor events such as the annual church fete. Car parking on two levels ensures there is ample parking and includes three disabled bays. 

The committee of Trustees are drawn from regular user groups as well as volunteers who may have special skills. The hall is a Registered Charity (No 1050967).

The Trustees are keen to maintain the hall in good order and regularly ensure that the decor is refreshed. The kitchen was updated to include two large fan assisted ovens as well as a ceramic hob. A dishwasher was also installed to cope with large functions where food is served.  Ample crockery and cutlery ensures the hall can cope with such events as wedding breakfasts and Golden Anniversaries or Jubilee events. Trustees took advantage of national lockdowns to further refurbish the kitchen and to refresh the decor throughout the hall. 

The Hall has a C.Bechstein baby grand piano.

We've Gone Green During 2019 the Hall became "green". There are photovoltaic cells on the roof providing electricity and an Air Source Heat Pump for heating. The need to burn oil is thus reduced to the minimum and it will only be necessary to run the boiler in very cold weather .

We also updated the entrance area with planters and a community herb garden. A ramp has been incorporated so that wheelchairs exiting through the fire doors at the rear of the main hall no longer meet steps when they arrive at the front of the building.

The Hall Trust is a member of The Community Council for Somerset and has been accredited with Hallmark 1, 2 & 3 whereby the hall's facilities and management processes are checked to ensure they are maintained to a high standard. The Trustees are proud that Henton Village Hall has the highest rating that can be achieved by Somerset village halls.
